I don’t think people realize just how much comes across my desk on a given week… We are constantly receiving information in our office and processing it as best we can. Even as I write this I’m surrounded by a small sea of paper, my writing implements (iMac®, keyboard, and mouse), my ever present cup of coffee, and a stack of fascinating articles from several publishers.

This afternoon, I thought I’d deviate from my normal routine for these writings and offer a little more general information for anyone. I was sifting through some articles earlier today and saw a magazine on healthy skin. Odd I know… But there was a subtitle that caught my attention: “8 Principles for Achieving Inner Peace” (sic) by Dr. Wolf J. Rinke.

I began digesting the information and found it rather interesting, so I’d like to pass it on to you.

Eight Nuggets for Thought:

1. Be honest
Honesty, says Dr. Rinke, is a foundation of inner peace. With all those in high places hiding true intentions, make it a habit to maintain the truth and you won’t have to worry about a guilty conscience.

2. Think empowering thoughts
You are what you… Think? Sure. Actively thinking about empowerment or peace is a great exercise to pacifying a quarreling spirit.

3. Take advantage of the abundance all around you
Here’s how it works: You get what you give. Sow your seeds carefully and the harvest will provide a bounty.

4. Take really great care of #1 first
Nope, I’m not talking about being selfish. To achieve peace, you must be at peace with who you are to begin. Realize who you are as a person before you start trying to help others.

5. Become your own creator
Again, don’t jump to conclusions on me… Engineer the changes you’d like to see concerning peace or life in general. You can’t always rely on others to create ideas or things for you. By taking initiative, anything’s possible.

6. Let go of the past
As a plastic surgeon once told me at a forum, “You can’t live life while watching it pass in the rear-view mirror; you have to put your hands on the steering wheel and drive!” Drop the stewing over your past and move on.

7. Kill the ego
Here’s some great things that I had to learn after reading this… Use these phrases to curb arguments and move on.

“You are right about that…” Just walk away.

“I’ve made a mistake.” Redefines all those unrealistic goals we may have made.

“I changed my mind.” Remember, it only works if you have one to begin with (That’s from Dr. Rinke, not me, so no hate mail on that one.)

“I don’t know.” It helps to just admit this sometime.

“Let’s agree to disagree.” Sometimes you just have to admit it and move on.

8. Never give up on dreams
“The purpose of life is not to make it safely to the grave.” Dreams result in passion. These are for you specifically. You can’t live out someone else’s dream, so never give up on your own. They are as unique as your fingerprint, DNA, or personality.

Just a few words on how to find some peace in this hectic day and age. Hope you can use this in some way in the week to come.

Always at your service,

Jonathan

Hi all!

Well, after doing some looking around, I have decided to make our “Resources” page into more of a blog to allow me to effectively communicate with anyone desiring information about assisted living, independent living, or the process of aging. A blog seemed to be an efficient way to send out information or allow anyone to browse through what we have posted. I hope to be updating this regularly and with pertinent information.

Please allow me to introduce myself… I am Jonathan Giles, Corporate Office Manager for Runk & Pratt Senior Living Communities. It is my mission as the office manager to provide anyone seeking information with pertinent, quality articles and clips that may answer some of your queries on what assisted living is, how it works, and how it applies to you and your families.

Please consider me your guide into this world. I may not be able to answer all questions, but I will find an answer if you provide me enough time!

I look forward to hearing from the readers, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

See you soon with more info,

Jonathan
